Random (and rather image heavy)

I made a card for Mama's birthday...a bit late....but better late than never, right? It didn't come out the way I'd initially planned (partly because I dripped ink on my writing and had to make that work somehow...) but I like the...layout. I want to try to make a few more (though we all know just how often I actually execute my ideas)

And what I wrote (because I know you can't read it) is this really great quote my friend Jon sent me. "If I lose the light of the sun, I will write by candlelight, moonlight, no light. If I lose paper and ink, I will write in blood on forgotten walls. I will write always. I will capture nights all over the world and bring them to you."
I really need to work on my writing more. I know I always say that too. There's a short story contest I want to enter...deadline is the end of this month. I haven't started anything (naturally) but I do have two workable ideas floating in my head. I've been reading a ton lately and just haven't felt like penning anything myself.

And then since I had ink in my cool old pen (thanks Alex!) still, I decided to write on the first piece of cardstock that I had messed up. I literally just wrote what I was thinking. Not sure where all that came from...

Also I've started my summer class now, Document Design, and the core of the class will be me working with a client (an actual business) and designing documents for them, such as a business card, letterhead, envelope, postcards, and other advertising things. So I'll be posting stuff from this class as well (hopefully).

Aaaaaand (I know, such a long post!) I was fooling around in Illustrator some more the other day and made a few more stationary designs...
This first one is a sort of retro-inspired theme and I made several variations of it (I'm not going to post them all here) and it's something I think I would like to work with. I might try to scale it down and make a real business card for myself.

This was me practicing making images into a cartoons, so I redid this orange and then decided to make some nice fruity stationary. Haha. Maybe I'll do a quarter of a lemon and lime at some point and make a nice summery stationary.

I don't think I pimped my Etsy shop on here yet...but if I did...I'll do it again! Haha. This is my little business card that I made up in case anyone orders anything from me (right now I just have 4x6 photography prints listed...but someday I hope to make jewelry). So far no one has bought anything from me. But check it out!

  2. You should sell stationary on etsy!!! if I was on etsy and saw awesome stationary I would buy it (like if I didn't know you)
also, I heard a good way to promote your shop is to post on the discussion boards on etsy (something I've never done either, but once I post my prints for sale I am going to try!) <3
